Kannwidan has
been a yearly celebrated festival since Vice Governor DV Savellano started it
since 2007. Kannawidan is the Ilocano term for culture and tradition. Here,
different contest are implemented like Marching Band contest, Daniw (poem)
writing contest and many more. The products of every municipality of Ilocos are
also presented here. The most delicious foods are also served. And laslty, to
award those who wrote the name of Ilocos Sur on the Wall of Fame.
I am really
proud to be an Ilocano. I’ve seen with my two eyes the traditional way of
Ilocanos in opening programs. It is an eye opener that we Ilocanos have our own
rich culture and tradition compared to other parts of the country.
With Kannawidan,
we preserve these golden culture and tradition of Ilocano. Being a part of this
celebration is a must especially for the youth because it is still in our hands
if we continue giving value to the pride of Ilocos.
