What Christmas Should Be...

Christmas must be the time for GIVING.
Super Typhoon Yolanda left 5,500 killed, 1175 missing and 21,615 with over 10.3 billion Peso worth of battered infrastructures but brought billions of hands and still counting to lift the victims. Countries around the world have dropped tons of relief goods in Visayas. Establishments provide closed cans where customers can drop their help for the people devastated by Yolanda. Television networks aired the appalling condition of affected areas to persuade viewers to help.
This is the very essence of Christmas – to give, to help selflessly. It is when Jesus was born to start the way of God, the way to God. He sacrificed His life to save our sins, to fill our despair, and to show us that there is life after death.
Now that our brothers and sisters in Visayas are facing the wrath of nature this Christmas, let us give them a hand to stand and to be thankful that Jesus has been born again in every hearts of Filipinos. Let us live out the true meaning of Christmas. Let us live in an oasis of giving and helping, for that is how Christmas should be.

Karma!

There are many news today that are unimaginable. There are typhoons with wind that can wreak concretes and bring surges. There are rapid increase and decrease in temperature in the environment causing health problems. There are melting of ice in Earth’s poles that results to great floods.
Scientists tell that the only thing that causes these calamities is Climate Change. It is simply the change in climate, for example drought in the Antarctic.
Climate Change occurs because of Global Warming. Global warming is the abnormal heating of Earth caused by the build-up of chemicals in the atmosphere. This build-up traps the reflected rays from the Earth’s surface that came from the sun. These rays accumulate which gives a very high temperature.
It is also believed that the Ozone Depletion or the thinning of the Ozone Layer of Earth’s atmosphere which traps Ultraviolet Rays caused by the chemicals called Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) affect the heating of the Earth.
All of these chemicals of death are made by selfish men. Companies, vehicles, sprays, appliances, and other products produce this chemicals.
This is the manifestation that what one give is what one get, originally or worse.

Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities

In an contest, if some parts of the quizzes are leaked some contestants, all the participants will not have an equal opportunity to win the contest. What if the contest who have the leaked answers win and represent your city to higher level and he only depend on answer keys. That is only one effect of unequal rights.
Equal rights mean Equal Opportunities, but how come. Every man in this country, in this world has rights to live, to dream, and to achieve. And this right must be equally distributed to each or else, the best outcomes will not prevail. Opportunities of each will be affected which will wreak havoc. Those with greater opportunities, greater rights may abuse their power and those with less opportunities, less rights, or none at all will be the one crawling from the ground.
Equal rights give Equal Opportunities. Give to people what is right. Peace needs equality.

Going Global through English Language

English Language has been a very useful language. It is used for tourism in the Philippines as well as when one gets out from our archipelagos. It is widely used by many of the countries around the globe to communicate and have agreements for peace and business. English language is truly the biggest and the strongest rope to tie as one.
The theme of the English Month is “Going Global through English Language. I expect that after this month, I will be a great speaker. I can now socialize with other persons with confidence for I know that this month I am trained to have confidence to speak to a large group of people. I want fun activities that will push us to speak.

So English Club officers, I challenge you to conduct exciting activities and I will ensure you that I will attend those. And if you will make a very good activity, I will help you encourage our schoolmates to participate with that activity. Hope this month will be a successful one.

Second Grading ICT: The Wonderful Beginning

Second grading ended, but for me, it started what I really wanted to learn in ICT IV. This is the beginning that opened the door of the art of Hypertext Mark-up Language files for me.

How browser display pages were discussed. Who makes and what are the most essential web standards were introduced. HTML editors were listed. And the most exciting part for me, HTML tags were taught to us. We were tested by the exercises on web pages and for my very first time, by making simple web pages. All of this made my second grading.

Well, before I am going to end my post, may I congratulate our teacher, Mrs. Evelyn Vera Cruz for garnering the most outstanding secondary teacher here in our great city of Vigan. Thank you ma’am for an exhilarating second grading period. Hope that third grading will overcome the joy in second grading.

My Teacher! My Hero!

I know that maybe not all but most consider Justice League and Superhero Squad heroes because all of them saved the world from evil. May I introduce you my hero.

Most define them as chalk and eraser, paper and pencil, because what they only have to save us are those not like Iron Man using his ultimate suit, Spider Man with its fantastic webs, but for me they are life. Leading characters in stories saves lives when darkness arrives, but teachers saves lives before the dark arrives and enlightens lives in the darkness. Most of the characters in the stories uses supernatural powers that no one can imagine but teachers only use their hands, their mouth, their mortal body. Teachers teaches what how to work. But still they are not contented, they give us energy, they give us inspirations to finish our work.

Teachers save our history, nurture our present, and give us future. They our our true hero. I salute to them!

"Unravel the Causes, Build the Solution, Empower Science Clubbers to Action"

Problems are like plants. If we cut its leaves, branches, or trunks, there is still a chance that it will come back to tits original for or even come to a worse position. The only solution is to uproot it from the ground and instantly, the plant will die.

All of us as an individual can start ridding any problem either big or small but this will affect the time we finish it and the effectiveness of our doings. But I guarantee, the greater the number doing and dreaming one outcome can make all impossible reachable, like a snail into falcon, and most important, effectively kill the problem.

So what are you waiting for? There are lots of problems our world, environment, country are facing. Get out, encourage others, empower science clubbers, altogether unravel the roots of the problem, and build the eternal solution!

Beyond a Post

Majority say that fathers are the columns of every home. They give what their children need. They are struggling to work to support their families. But for me, they are more than that.

Father, they are the types which are anxious but elated when we are born.  They were nervous probably because something bad might happen but mainly, they are happy because they now have children, children cared for, children to guide for. When we are brought to this world, they are eager and excited to see us and touch our hands. They want that they first arise us and give us warm embrace.

I know that most, if not, all of us have experienced beating from our fathers. Why did they beat us? It might be because we were very importunate when we were kids. They wouldn’t have beat us if we don’t do bad things. They might not get angry on us if we follow what they are saying, if we do not repeat those mistakes we had. They do this because for them, that's the only way for us to reduce our annoyingness, for us to hear what they are saying, for us to learn.

Our father wants to catch us if we fell, but instead, they help us stand, clean our clothes, and they let us try again. That’s how they trust us.

They are more than posts of houses. Because the trust and love they give us is incomparable. They are  the modern hero for me, for us.

First Grading ICT: A Reflection

I heard this year, we will learn how to make our own website in our subject. This made me excited to attend our ICT class. I learned this grading that the history of Internet very fast, I mean almost every year from 1957 until now there are advancement of Internet technology that are popping up. From the launched of SPUTNIK, to the building of Galactic Network, to the formation of ARPANET changing its name to Internet until now. I also learned the components of the internet, how web servers and web browsers work together, and how one find a web site. Our teacher also discussed the data types found in the internet. She also discussed about the parts of a browser, how world wide web works, how browser fetch pages, and the part of Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Domain names and its levels were also discussed. We were also thought  about blogging and its types.
In this grading, we only have few meetings because the months of this first grading were for the STEP and TLE club, that's why our teacher have many appointments to do. Plus the time consuming Nutri-Jingle Contest that we have participated, plus meetings of CAT's and COLT's, the result was when our teacher was present to teach us, we were not around, but when our teacher has something to do, we were there to attend. That's why our lessons were slightly discussed. This was the biggest problem for me, because the First Periodical Test was near.

In that case, the easiest thing for me to do is to discuss with my self with the internet for me to easily memorize my notes. I applied it to reality for me to understand everything, how it works, and also to familiarize myself to the different parts of the browser.

LACK!

President Aquino said "Nabura na po ang minana nating kakulangan sa libro at upuan" on his State of the Nation Address last July 22.
As a student, I see that there are still great lack of books and chairs. An example, we have ten subjects but we only hold one book. Is this "bura" for you?
If there are really books bought, we hope that this be given to us as early as possible and we also hope we can use this. I see books stocked because teachers found that some don't give correct detail, some lack lessons.
I hope that you will solve this if your real intention is to lift up the education here in Philippines.

Gutom at Malnutrisyon Sama-Sama nating Wakasan

A Letter to the President of the Philippines

Dear President Aquino,
               Greetings!
I would like to thank you our good President for trying to level us, the Filipino Students to have equal training with the genius students of other countries. But behind this training, behind K-12, I would like to show you a part of reality in my school, Ilocos Sur National High School.
Many students in our school specially at our Values and Math buildings suffers flood every time rain drops. The water from a part of Vigan flows here for our school was built to one of the lowest part of Vigan City.
Around 4 to 5 thousand students enter and leave the school but it has only 110 classrooms.
These are just some of the major problem in our school. I have posted this letter so that you our dear President may be able to know and give us a hand to handle this problems.

                                                                                                                                                     Sincerely yours,
                                                                                                                                                               Junius
